PLACES TO VISIT
Zoological Park : This zoo is tactfully designed and brilliantly constructed on a hill-slope. Rare species of birds, bisons, golden langurs and blythe's tragopan can be seen here.
The Catholic Cathedral : This cathedral is a great structure of immense architectural excellence and stands tall on the Aradura hill as one of the most important places of tourist attraction. This is also one of the biggest cathedrals of the North-East.

Tuophema Tourist Village : Travel from Kohima to Tuophema tourist village is a half an hour drive and Angami Sekrenyi is the prime festival which is celebrated with great joy where the main village well is cleansed and is followed by singing and dancing. This village is declared as an Ancient Heritage Village by the government. Bamboo baked fish and rice beer are some of the famous delicacies of this place.
Japfu Peak : This lofty peak is about 16kms from Kohima and is perched at an elevation of 3048 mts above the sea level. This peak experiences the first sunrise and sunset in the region and the joy of witnessing it should be enjoyed personally and surpasses verbal explanation. This place is a trekkers delight. The tallest Rhododendron tree (120 feet), which has made an entry into the Guinness Book of world records can be found here.
Khonoma Green Village : This is a famous green village which is known for cultivating 40 different varieties of rice on the hill slopes and was under the hands of the British rulers. This place lies about 20 kms away from Kohima and houses Tragopan Sanctuary to protect Blyth's Tragopan which is facing the threat of extinction.
