History of Badhni Kalan.Badhni Kalan waa founded, during the Mughal Period by Dhaliwal Jatt Zamindars who came from Dhaula Kangar area of Barnala, all this Region is known as the Malva Region. During the time of Mughal Ruler Akbar, Chaudhri Mehar Mitha Dhaliwal the Chief of Village Kangar near Barnala, who was a Hindu Jatt but followed Sakhi Sarwar, arranged the marriage of his daughter Bhagbhari Jatti to Akbar. Although Dhaliwal Jatts were against this marriage this led to feuds among the Dhaliwal Jatts who got divided, those who reblled against this decision became Dhaliwal (Romana) (Suffix), these Dhaliwal left Kangar to settle in nearny village of Dhaula. After marriage of Bhagbhari Jatti to Akbar, he gave Chaudhri Mehar Mitha Dhaliwal the title of Mian and a Feudal estate of 120 Villages and was made the head of nearly all the Dhaliwal villages expanding from Badhni Kalan to Dhaula Kangar. Chaudhri Mian Himmat Khan Dhaliwal, who was a Hindu Sultani Jatt Jagirdar from family of Chaudhri Mian Mehar Mitha, got built a fort in Badhni Kalan. Although the family used Khan suffix, it never converted to Islam, but remained Sultani Sakhi Sarwari followers. In around 1760, Rai Mohammad Khan Manj Rajput ruler of Raikot, brought area of Badhni Kalan along with Ludhiana under his control which remained with family until year 1806, when Ranjit Singh of Lahore crossed the Sutlej River from Harike Pattan and took the Rai Kingdom by force. He gave the Village of Badhni Kalan and its fort as a Feudal estate to his mother in law Mai Sadda Kaur (1762-1832), who also belonged to this area being the daughter of Chaudhri Dasaunda Singh Dhaliwal of Village Rauke south west of Badhni Kalan.
