The language spoken here is Awadhi often mistaken as bhojpuri due to linguistic similarity. The market is very close to the entire village opening everyday where people go to buy and sell all kinds of products specially sweets, street foods and Vegetables. Everything is prepared right in the front of people ensuring them of the quality of the food. A temple of hindu god Hanuman is also at walking distance that opens every Tuesday. Children are always excited to visit the temple to buy toys and eat a very special form of chaat common in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Ghaghra river is at a distance of about 1.5 kilometers from here where people may go any day of the week but prefers to go there on Sunday when the weekly fair takes place. It begins in the morning and ends in the afternoon. During monsoon, it is not safe to bathe in the river. So, people come only to worship in the temple built on the river side. The temple and the surrounding region is called "baba ki kutiyah." On days other then Sunday, many young Hindu and Muslim herders can be seen here with their buffaloes and goats respectively. Very close to the northern end of the market, there is a region called "Kali maa ka chaura" considered very sacred where people come to worship Goddess Kali. This region is filled with trees and women come here with their children to offer lapsi and puri to the goddess which is distributed among the children right after performing the rituals. Lapsi (porridge of wheat flour) and puri (fried roti of wheat flour) are the major kind of offerings given to the gods in this region. This meal is also offered at "baba ki kutiyah" on Sundays whenever a family feels blessed or wants to pray for a wish. There are two kinds of Muslims who live on the eastern end of the village. One group is of Pathans and their area is called "pathantoli" in hindi and "Pathantoliya" in Awadhi meaning group of Pathans and the other group is of Helaas who are comparatively poorer and considered lower-caste Muslims. Some shops are also situated within the village. There are two places considered haunted by villagers one is a region called "baram baba" it's a group of tall trees surrounding a well where snakes can be seen any time of the day. This area, as recalled by the elders of the village, is considered to be the palace of the former king who resided here during the British raj. The other haunted place is called "baghiya ke Uttar." It is region people come to cross while going towards the Ghaghra river. It's not a graveyard but poor people who can't afford to pay for building the concrete slab and tombstone on graves end up burying their relatives without a marker or tombstone. It's an orchard of mango. People are afraid of coming here alone even during the day knowing they would be treading the graves. A very long bridge has been built over the Ghaghra river that makes it easier for people to reach the other side of the river. Earlier people would use canoes to reach there. There has never been any dispute between Hindus and Muslims over religion. The ties among some Hindu and Muslim families are very old and strong. The river is on the north, the market towards south, the temple towards west and on the eastern side, fields of wheats are spread over a very long distance. Many towering chimneys where bricks are baked can be seen in between these fields. It is always on the eastern side, where the major ponds are found from which the clayey soil is taken to people's houses to make earthen stove called "chulha." Array of water hyacinths increase the beauty of these ponds. Up until the first decade of 21st century, most of the houses were kachcha houses but many pakka houses have been built since then. Majority of families are indulged in farming.
